XM / XA Tumbling Nuggets

Richwood offers two random shaped tumbling media. XM is a sintered ceramic burnishing nugget. XA is a microcrystalline fused aluminum oxide nugget.

XM is a coloring abrasive. It is hard, durable and extremely dense, principally used in mass finishing burnishing applications. It can also be used for light burr removal, radius formation, and as a driver for loose abrasives in cut and color operations. Its hardness, toughness and fine crystalline structure make it one of the best products for developing a lustrous, high color burnish on ferrous metals, brass and aluminum. XM can replace more costly steel media at lower power and with less machine wear. It is tougher, more durable and denser than other ceramic media, will outlast competitive ceramic and steel media, and can color hardened steel where steel media is ineffective. At half the weight of steel, it is a very economical choice. It is sized closely and uniformly to minimize lodging, will not rust, and can be stored wet or dry. Density 140-150 lbs/cu ft.

XA is dense, tough and free-cutting, a true microcrystalline fused aluminum oxide abrasive. Its solid structure, super-fine crystal size and carefully controlled chemistry, including titanium dioxide, make it strong and durable. It is fast cutting, long wearing and impact resistant over a wide range of demanding applications. With proper compounding, XA is an excellent burnishing media. Density 145 lbs/cu ft.
